چکیده
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of neuregulin 1β (NRG1β) on the neuronal apoptosis and the expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax proteins in experimental dementia model rats. METHODS Thirty adult healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, model group and treated group consisting of 10 rats, respectively. The experimental dementia models were established by injecting beta-amyloid protein 1-40 (Aβ1-40) stereotactically into the left lateral ventricle, and treated by injecting NRG1β into right lateral ventricle. The cognitive capacity of rats was evaluated with Y-electric maze. The neuronal apoptosis was counted by TUNEL assay. The expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax were determined with immunohistochemistry assay and double immunofluorescence labeling. RESULTS The cognitive ability in model group rats decreased, along with the number of neuronal apoptosis and the expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax increased significantly than those in control group (P < 0.05). After treatment with NRG1β, the cognitive ability of rats improved, the number of neuronal apoptosis reduced and the expression of Bcl-2 increased while Bax decreased significantly than those in model group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION NRG1β could inhibit neuronal apoptosis by regulating the expressions of Bcl-2/Bax to improve the capacity of learning and memory in experimental dementia rats.

Neuroprotective effect of berberine chloride on cognitive impairment and hippocampal damage in experimental model of vascular dementia
Objective(s):The major objective of the present study was to investigate the potential neuroprotective effect of berberine chloride on vascular dementia. Berberine, as an ancient medicine in China and India, is the main active component derived from the Berberis sp. Several studies have revealed the beneficial effects of berberine in various neurodegenerative disorders. Materials and Methods: T...
متن کاملAlteration in Neuregulin 1/ERbB4 in Absence Epilepsy: Regulatory Effect on TRPV1 Expression
Introduction: The footprint of Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) / ERbB4 in the pathophysiology of some neurological disorders and TRPV1 regulation has been indicated. The alterations in NRG1 and ErbB4 as well as the TRPV1 signaling pathway were investigated during the development of absence epilepsy in the genetic animal model of absence epilepsy. Methods: Male WAG/Rij and Wistar rats were divided into fou...
متن کاملP83: Role of Neuregulin 3 Genes Expression on Attention Deficits in Schizophrenia
Genetic epidemiological studies strongly suggest that additive and interactive genes, each with small effects, mediate the genetic vulnerability for schizophrenia. With the human genome working draft at hand, candidate gene (and ultimately large-scale genome-wide) association studies are gaining renewed interest in the effort to unravel the complex genetics of schizophrenia. Linkage and fine ma...

Introduction: To study the effect of gallic acid (GA) on hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP) and histological changes in animal model of Alzheimer disease (AD) induced by betaamyloid (Aβ). Methods: Sixty-four adult male Wistar rats (300±20 g) were divided into 8 groups: 1) Control (Cont); 2) AD; 3) Sham; 4-7) AD+GA (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg for 10 days, orally) or...
متن کاملFailure mechanism and soil deformation pattern of soil beneath interfering square footings
In this research, the variation of ultimate bearing capacity, failure mechanism and deformation pattern of soil beneath two closely square footings have been studied using numerical methods. It is assumed that the adjacent footings are constructed on the surface of sand. The presented numerical analyses are based on explicit-finite-difference code, FLAC3D. The elasto-plastic behavior of soil is...
